Brent Wheatley

Brent Wheatley is the founder of Athlete Law Group, a law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of professional and collegiate athletes. His journey into law began on the baseball field, where he played for the University of Southern California before being drafted by the Miami Marlins. After years in professional sports, Brent transitioned from athlete to advocate, bringing with him a firsthand understanding of the physical and financial sacrifices athletes make in pursuit of their careers.

Following his playing days, Brent earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law and studied international employment law at The University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He began practicing workers’ compensation law, where he quickly developed a reputation for his strategic advocacy and deep understanding of employment law. With over 5 years of experience in the space, he has built extensive experience navigating California’s complex workers’ compensation system.

Motivated by the injustices he witnessed in the treatment of athletes—particularly when it comes to long-term injuries, medical access, and fair compensation—Brent founded Athlete Law Group to level the playing field. The firm is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on the employment and health rights of both professional and collegiate athletes. Brent combines legal precision with personal experience, ensuring that those who gave everything to the game receive the justice and benefits they deserve.
